About Me

Hiya. I'm a pro electric bassist and work in a variety of genres: rock, pop, country/americana, funk/soul, reggae/dub, all manner of American roots music, hip hop, various world genres, and more. I love laying down timeless bass sounds with a deep pocket, adding to the arc of the song. I am also a composer and producer and craft my bass parts and tone with that sensibility.

Artists, producers, and musicians I have worked with include Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crow), Dead Kennedys, Daevid Allen(Gong, Soft Machine), Hanni El Khatib, James Hardway, Nyee Moses, Ras Midas(Jamaican Reggae artist), Paul Leary(Butthole Surfers), Jesse DeNatale, Vincent Kwok, Rusty Tinder, Robin Lerner(Faith Hill, etc), Counting Crows members, Bird York, Thom Russo, Chuck Prophet, Brutal Jooks, Matt McDavid, Greg Hoy, Chris Steffen, Wayne Michaud, Max Vogel, and others.

I have worked with some stellar drummers including Victor Indrizzo(Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, etc), Keith LeBlanc(Sugarhill Band, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa), Michael Urbano(Sheryl Crow, Lindsey Buckingham, Cracker, John Hiatt), Joey Waronker(Beck, Roger Waters, Thom Yorke, etc), Satnam Ramgotra(Hans Zimmer, Sting, Macy Gray), Paul Allen (Kelly Clarkson, Beyoncé), John Mader, Trey Sabatelli, and others.

I have recorded bass on gobs of TV commercials as well as on TV and film scores (mostly via my biz cordovanmusic.com).

Under the name Cordovan I remixed Bob Marley's "One Love/All in One" (playing bass on the remix as well) on the first officially sanctioned Bob Marley remix album, "Roots Rock Reggae".

Releases featuring my bass playing have been reviewed in Jazz Times, XLR8R, Blues Review, Bass Guitar Magazine, and others.

"Greg Reeves lays down heaping gobs of funk bass with drummer Keith LeBlanc(Sugarhill, Afrika Bambaataa, etc)" - Bass Guitar Magazine review of James Hardway's "Over Easy".

I recently relocated to Northern California after 20 years in Los Angeles, and have been gigging and doing sessions locally and in my own studio, and continuing to record and play live from LA to Nashville and beyond.
